International Rescue Committee(IRC Phoenix)

Organization Mission
Founded in 1933, the IRC helps refugees, asylum seekers, survivors of violence and trafficking, and other vulnerable people rebuild their lives; the Phoenix office has resettled over 12,000 refugee families since 1994.
Age Restrictions
Volunteers/interns must generally be 18+. Minors (under 18) may volunteer only under specific IRC policies — email VolunteerPHX@rescue.org for details. Asylum-seeker volunteers 12–17 may only join scheduled Day of Service projects.
Application Process
Submit the online volunteer application, meet virtually with the Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator or relevant program staff to discuss interests/skills, then get matched to a role. Some roles require an interview, background check, and two references.
Description of Service
Volunteers might teach newly arrived refugees to use public transportation, supervise children in on-site daycare, lead interactive English lessons for K–8 students, greet and assist families at resource fairs, or support case work and data entry for programs like Refugee Cash Assistance.
