Organization Mission
No formal published mission statement exists (no official website). Founder Sasha Rubin created Ice SkateAble to build a more inclusive environment for children with disabilities, noting that ice skating helps with fine motor skills, balance, and coordination and is more sensory-friendly. (This is drawn from Arizona's Family/AZFamily news coverage, not a formal mission statement.)
Age Restrictions
No formal published age policy. Ice SkateAble is a youth-founded program (founder was ~15–16 at launch), so volunteers are largely teens; some on-ice skating ability is implied for assisting students. AZFamily
Application Process
No formal application, orientation, background check, or fee is published. Interested volunteers/participants contact the founder via email (ksasharubin@gmail.com) or the Ice SkateAble Instagram. Sessions are held at the Ice Den in Scottsdale, AZ. The program has partnered with the nonprofit MORIAH (which connects children with disabilities to mentors) and Ice Den Scottsdale. Description of Volunteer Service
Volunteers pair one-on-one with children who have disabilities (autism, developmental and physical challenges) to teach ice skating in a sensory-friendly setting at Ice Den Scottsdale, helping skaters build fine motor skills, balance, coordination, confidence, and social connection. It is a small, grassroots, teen-led adaptive-skating initiative rather than a large formal nonprofit.
