"For Goodness Cakes matches volunteers to make and hand-deliver birthday & graduation cakes to children in foster care and youth overcoming adversity on their special day."
Age Restrictions
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteering is an individual activity — the organization asks people to sign up as individuals rather than as a group.
Application Process
Prospective volunteers complete a mandatory online orientation (covering how the organization works and food safety) and must pass a quiz with a score of 90% or higher within two attempts. Volunteers must be able to make deliveries in the county they serve. There is no fee; volunteers bake out of their own homes on their own schedule and can commit to as few as one cake a year.
Description of Volunteer Service
Volunteers ("the Sprinkle Squad") bake and decorate birthday and graduation cakes at home, then hand-deliver them to foster agencies and care homes serving disadvantaged youth. The commitment is highly flexible. This is a national organization (headquartered in Santa Monica, CA) with an active Maricopa County, AZ chapter.
