Organization Mission

"Foothills Animal Rescue's mission is to save lives through rescue, care and adoption of homeless cats and dogs."

Age Restrictions

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to work directly with the animals, even with a parent present. Volunteers under 18 can still get involved through the Supply Drive or Fundraising options.

Application Process

Submit an online application, watch a 20-minute online orientation and pass a quiz, pass a criminal background check ($18.85), complete the Fear Free Shelters training series (4 hours), pay a volunteer fee for a t-shirt and name tag ($17 + tax), and attend an in-person "Animal Training Day" plus a mentor session. Volunteers commit to a regular weekly shift for at least 6 months.

Description of Volunteer Service

Volunteers work directly with shelter animals — walking and socializing dogs, caring for cats, and helping with grooming and enrichment activities — or support the mission through adoption counseling, staffing offsite adoption events, working in the resale boutique, or representing the organization at community events.
