Organization Mission

"provide emergency shelter and social services to help homeless families move toward independent housing and self-sufficiency"

Age Restrictions

Family-friendly — volunteering is described as open based on “location, skill set, and age,” including whole families; specific minimum ages can vary by congregation site and role.

Application Process

Sign up through familypromiseaz.org/volunteer. Most volunteers serve through a partner faith congregation (evening/overnight shelter support) or at a Family Day Center; roles with direct family contact include an orientation.

Description of Volunteer Service

Operates through a network of 48+ interfaith congregations providing shelter, meals, and support to homeless families and their pets during a 60-day self-sufficiency program, plus an aftercare program (including a Read to Succeed literacy initiative).
