Organization Mission

“advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Arizona’s dependency courts”

Age Restrictions

Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, and able to relate in a positive, objective way to children, families, and professionals.

Application Process

Apply through your county's CASA program (Maricopa County applies via the Superior Court website). The process includes a background check, references, an interview, and a required 30-hour pre-service training program before being sworn in and assigned a case.

Description of Volunteer Service

CASA volunteers are appointed by dependency court judges to be a consistent, independent voice for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. They review records, interview children/families/professionals, and represent the child's best interests in court until the case closes (a minimum 12-month commitment, ~10 hours/month is typical).
